An auto add rule watches for a field matching a condition and value, then adds any new record that qualifies to the right board automatically.
From any table, open Setup and find the auto add rules for that board.
Detailed table page
Reached from the gear button in the board's toolbar
Pick the field to watch, the condition, and the value it needs to match. The rule reads as a plain sentence, so it is easy to check later.
Auto-add rules
When a new matter is created with a matching field value, it's added here automatically. Doesn't apply retroactively to existing matters.
Add a rule
One field, one operator, one value
A rule does not apply retroactively. Setting one does not change what is already on the board, only what gets added afterwards.
What a rule does and does not catch
A new matter is created with Matter Type already set to Conveyancing
Added to the board immediately, in the same save.
An existing matter has Matter Type filled in for the first time
Also added. The rule watches for the value first being written, not only for new records.
Matter Type is changed from Commercial to Conveyancing
Not added. Editing an existing value never triggers a rule.
Matters that already matched before you wrote the rule
Not added. Use the board's own Add matters button to bring those in.
