Bill a project in progress claims
Claim a long job month by month against the lines of its contract, hold back retention, and turn each claim into an invoice.
On this page
Open a project's claims
Open Tools, then Progress claims, and pick the project in Choose a project. The list puts projects that already have claims first, under With claims.
A project's own page shows the same claims in its Progress claims section. Each claim has a tab, #1, #2 and so on, and + starts the next one.
Start a claim
Click +. Your first claim takes one line for each line of the project's accepted quote. Each line's scheduled value is its total on the quote.
A later claim copies the latest claim's lines with This period at zero. It keeps the materials still on site, the Retention % and Claim by price. Its period starts the day after the last one ended.
We save nothing until you click Save. Until then, we keep the claim under Your drafts above it, so you can close the screen and carry on later.
Fill in the continuation sheet
Set Period from, Period to and Claim date above the sheet. Type the Retention % your contract holds back, such as 5.
On each line, type the work done this period in column E and the materials on site but not yet installed in column F. Every other column fills itself in as you type.
With Claim by price on, column E is an amount. Turn it off to type a quantity instead on each line that has one, such as 12 of 70 light fittings. The claim then values the quantity at the line's own rate.
Click Save to keep the claim, or Discard to throw away your changes since the last save.

Change many lines at once
Tick the box at the start of each line you want, or the box in the header for every line. A bar appears above the sheet.
Claim the rest sets This period to whatever is left on each line. Clear this period sets it back to zero. Hold retention and No retention choose whether retention comes off each line, and Remove lines takes them off this claim.
Check the claim against your costs
Click Claim summary. The left card shows the contract sum, the work done to date, the retention held, what you claimed before and what is Due this claim.
The right card lists the confirmed supplier invoices linked to this project and dated in the claim's period. Compare Cost in this period with Claimed this period, before retention before you bill.

Turn the claim into an invoice
Set the claim's Status to Submitted when you send it to your client, and to Certified once they agree the amount.
Click Review claim. We save the claim and make a draft invoice with one line per item for what this claim adds. A negative line on the invoice holds back the retention. The invoice opens beside the claim, ready to check and send like any other invoice.
Once you invoice a claim, it and every claim before it stop changing. To change an invoiced claim, void its invoice first.
Download the claim
Click PDF on a saved claim. The PDF carries the claim summary and the continuation sheet with columns A to L. Its file name holds the claim number and the project.
A claim still in Draft prints with DRAFT across every page.
You can delete only the latest claim on a project, with Delete. We never use its number again.
Use it on the phone
On the phone app, tap Tools, then Progress claims, and tap a project. Tap a claim number to open it, or + to start the next one.
Each line is a card with columns C, E and F to type into and the other figures under them. Tap Claim summary for the totals and costs, Review claim to make the invoice, and Open PDF for the PDF.
