Recurring jobs

You set the repeat once, and every visit lands as a real job.

You choose which jobs repeat and how often: a fortnightly mow, a monthly pool service, a test and tag visit every quarter. The product then writes every visit into your own jobs table four weeks ahead. Each one arrives with its customer, site, person and price already on it.

What repeats, and who does it

A recurring job carries a title, the customer, the site and the person doing it. It also carries the notes that belong on every visit, such as a gate code or where you leave the key.

You can add a customer or a site that does not exist yet from inside the form. You can add a person who has not joined yet too: the product emails them an invite, and you assign them the work straight away. You can also pick somebody who works at an associated company, and add them here.

To repeat work you have already done once, you choose the job under Repeat a job, and the product copies its details and lines. Repeat this job on an accepted quote does the same.

How often, in the words you would use

You write the rule the way you would say it. Every 2 weeks on Tuesday, every 3 months on the 1st, and every month on the last Friday all work. Every 12 months is yearly, and a visit dated the 31st falls on the last day of a shorter month.

You end it never, on a date, or after a set number of visits. The box underneath reads the rule back to you in plain words. It also lists the next visits it will book, before you save anything.

No end date. Visits are added to your jobs four weeks ahead, and the next visit always is.

  3. 03

    What a visit is worth

You add the lines you charge for a visit, by hand or from the price book, and Each visit shows you the total.

Every visit's job gets those lines, so your jobs table adds the value up for you rather than leaving it in somebody's head.

  4. 04

Real jobs, in your own table

When you save, the product books every visit from the first one up to four weeks ahead. It always books the next visit too, even when that is months away. It then adds new visits every hour as those four weeks move forward.

These are not diary entries. Each one is a job in your jobs table, with your fields, your statuses and your dashboards. A booked visit is on the run, in the reports and on the phone like any other job.

    One visit, or every visit

You move a single visit to another day, and later visits stay where they are. You skip one with a reason and the product removes its job, until Put back brings it back. You reassign one to somebody else, and the rest keep the usual person.

The Change a day button tells you how many visits move or get skipped across every recurring job at once. That is what a public holiday actually is.

When you change the repeat itself, it asks which day the change starts. It tells you how many booked visits it will replace and how many stay. It leaves alone any visit somebody has already moved, skipped, reassigned or started.

  6. 06

    Paused, resumed, ended

You pause from a date, with an optional date to start again. It then says how many booked visits it will take off first. The product books no visits while the pause lasts.

You end it with a last visit date, and Start again picks it back up later. Deleting it removes the booked visits from today that nobody has touched. It leaves every job somebody has already worked on exactly where it is.

Why people switch

  • What a repeat visit is

    Most job management tools

They give you a recurring entry in a calendar, separate from the jobs everything else uses.

    Diract

You get a real job in your own jobs table, with your fields and statuses, on the run and in the reports like any other.

  • Before you commit to a rule

    Most job management tools

They only show you once you save. A rule about the last Friday of the month is a guess until the visits appear.

    Diract

The box reads your rule back in plain words, and lists its next visits before you save.

  • Moving one visit

    Most job management tools

They move everything after it when you change the series, or they lose the link when you remove it.

    Diract

You move, skip or reassign one visit. Later visits stay on their days, and the repeat is unchanged.

  • A public holiday

    Most job management tools

They make you open every schedule that lands on it, one at a time.

    Diract

The Change a day button moves or skips that day across every recurring job at once, and tells you how many it touched.

  • Changing the repeat later

    Most job management tools

They rebuild the series, and you lose the visits somebody had already adjusted.

    Diract

You choose the day it starts. Visits somebody moved, skipped, reassigned or started stay exactly as they are.
