Lodge a CCEW from the job

Fill in a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work from the job it is for, check it against what Building Commission NSW checks, and send it to the eCert portal without typing the job in again.

Since 1 July 2026 every Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) in New South Wales goes to Building Commission NSW (BCNSW) through its eCert portal, either typed in there or sent by job software through BCNSW's API. Diract is the second: the job already holds the customer, the site and the work, so the certificate starts with them filled in.

You stay the one lodging it. The certificate names you and your licence, you make its declaration, and BCNSW checks your licence and emails the certificate to you, the customer and the network, the same as when you lodge in the portal.

Start a certificate

Open the job and click CCEW at the top. A job with no certificate opens straight onto a new one.

The site comes from the job's Site, split into unit, number, street, suburb and postcode. The customer comes from the job's Customer, with their email so BCNSW can send them the certificate. Type of work comes from the job's Work Type: a Switchboard upgrade is Additions or alterations to a switchboard or associated electrical equipment, for example. Test completed on is the job's Completed On, or today.

Check each section, and add what only you know: the Equipment you installed or worked on, whether it is connected to supply, and the Tests performed.

Your licence, once

Under You, the electrician, type your name exactly as it is on your licence, your Licence number and where it was issued, a phone number, your email and your address. BCNSW checks the name against the licence.

Tick the declaration and the privacy notice. Your next certificate starts with your licence, phone, address, the tests you ticked and your employer as you gave them this time. The declarations are made fresh on every certificate.

If somebody else did the test, choose No under Did you do the test yourself? and fill in The tester the same way.

Your employer

Send a copy to my employer is ticked on your first certificate, with your business's name, ABN and ACN filled in. Add the email the copy goes to.

Untick it if you work for yourself and do not want a second copy.

Send it to BCNSW

Click Save draft at any time to keep what you have and come back to it.

Click Send to BCNSW. Anything BCNSW would refuse is marked under its field first, such as a missing customer email or a postcode outside New South Wales, so you fix it before it is sent.

Once BCNSW has it, the certificate shows Lodged with BCNSW's reference, and the job's Safety Certificate Issued box is ticked. A lodged certificate cannot be changed.

If BCNSW refuses it, for example because a licence number does not match the name, its reasons show at the top in its own words. Fix them and click Send to BCNSW again.

Do it from the phone

Open the job on the phone and tap CCEW. The same certificate, filled in the same way, with Save draft and Send to BCNSW at the end.
