Time one email from your mailbox

Open an email filed to a matter. The panel beside it shows Record time for this email under the matter's name, with the hours already recorded for the email at its right. Click it to open Time for this email.

Read the line under Time for this email before you draft. It names each entry already recorded for the email, with its hours, person and date, or says No time recorded for this email yet. An entry somebody else recorded shows only that the email is recorded if you can see only your own time.

Choose the Person who did the work. If you are not an admin, Person shows your own name.

Click Draft entry to write the description and the time from the email. Click Brief, Standard or Detailed to draft it again at that level.

Check the description, the time and Billable, then click Record time. The section folds back to its one line, which now shows the hours recorded.

To time the work instead, click Clock in under the section. Write the description in the box that appears, then click Clock out, or the bin to discard the clock with nothing recorded. While it runs, the clock stays in the mail sidebar under Compose, and it and the toolbar's clock window show the email it started from: click the email to open it again. We record the time against this email. In the compose window, the timer icon beside Auto time this email clocks in on the email's matter.

Writing an email instead: choose the matter with the matter chooser at the foot of the window, then click the clock icon for Auto time this email. Check the card and click Send. We record the time once the email has gone and sits on the matter.
